London-based Michaelis Boyd has unveiled the eclectic new bread-centric eatery Buns & Buns in the ritzy Covent Garden section of the city. Located in the North Hall at the threshold of the piazza, the freestanding restaurant’s metal framed glazed façade conveys an industrial aesthetic while also linking visitors to the bustling commercial corridor outside.
An open-theater kitchen serves as the nucleus of Buns & Buns, flanked by a low-level bar wrapped in marble, while a curved, open-plan cocktail bar is accented with green leather and topped with white marble. The buzzy eatery is adorned with a color palette that honors the restaurant’s maiden location in Miami, complete with Art Deco influences. Stained glass panels, copper accents, and a range of contemporary light fixtures including warm filament bulbs strung above the dining room’s geometric floors, further solidify the theme.
