Chefs José Andrés and Costas Spiliadis will bring culinary concepts to the 1 million-square-foot Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards, part of the 28-acre residential and commercial development in New York by Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group.
While Andrés is expected to launch a Spanish-inspired eatery, Spiliadis will open Estiatorio Milos, his signature Greek restaurant. Both will join a dozen previously announced restaurants curated by chef Thomas Keller with restaurateur and developer Kenneth A. Himmel.
“Chef Spiliadis and chef Andrés are brilliant visionaries, and we are thrilled to bring their concepts to the new culinary destination at Hudson Yards,” says Himmel, who is president of Related Urban, the mixed-use division of Related Companies. “Both chefs have shown a commitment to helping create the new heart of New York, and I could not be more proud of the collection we are creating.”
Heralding from Spain, Andrés is known for his Spanish-style cuisine and was awarded Outstanding Chef by the James Beard Foundation in 2003. Spiliadis has launched several international restaurant locations in New York, Montreal, Miami, Athens, Las Vegas, and London.
To open in the fall of 2018, the new restaurants are only one aspect of the massive Hudson Yards development, which will also feature 14 acres of public space, a 750-seat public school, a 200-key Equinox-branded luxury hotel, and the offices of the Boston Consulting Group, Coach, KKR, L’Oréal USA, SAP, Time Warner, VaynerMedia, and Boies, Schiller & Flexner.
Hudson Yards is slated for completion in 2024.
