Richard Sandoval Hospitality is set to grow its international footprint with the opening of restaurants in Athens and Marrakesh this summer. Toro Del Mar Athens and Toro Toro Marrakesh will feature a design by global firm LW Design Group that embed guests in the setting while also channeling the concepts’ Latin American influence.
Set along Greece’s Voula Beach, Toro Del Mar Athens will ensconce diners in an eclectic garden that comprises dense greenery, bar pergolas, and a terrace dining deck. A show kitchen will anchor the upscale beach club, which will draw inspiration from the retro architectural vernacular of the setting. A palette of rusted amber hues, dusty notes of pink, and rich green stone will characterize the atmosphere, along with textural rattan and subtle brass details. “The design pays homage to Toro Del Mar’s origin and roots, while taking on an identity entirely its own,” says LW interior designer Gina Munro. “Each design element, from the materials to the integration, flow, and zoning have been carefully tiered to create a space that effortlessly transforms from day to night.”
Pan-Latin steakhouse concept Toro Toro Marrakesh is readying to debut in Morocco. Brass accents, playful heritage patterns, and layered references to Latin American design will elevate the eatery, while a grand bar and opulent lounge will promote comfort and elegance. Moody lighting will softly illuminate details—like leather and velvet furniture, walnut timber surfaces, and earth tones—that compose a sexy ambiance. Decorative wallcoverings and terracotta tiles will also serve as tactile focal points. “Interiors are imbedded with warmth and coziness thanks to the juxtaposition of layered patterns and textures,” says LW associate Jesper Axel. “Toro Toro Marrakesh radiates the South American influences with Latin patterns, dark floral walls that make references to the Amazonas, use of leather with typical south American burnt colors, and artwork that directs the imagination to the Shamanic cultural influences.”
