Gracious Hospitality Management has announced the expansion of Korean steakhouse COTE with the recent launch of COTE Miami.
Located in the Miami Design District, COTE Miami evokes the spirit of the restaurant’s New York flagship while also reflecting the innovative cultural personality of the neighborhood through a sleek design by architecture studio MNDPC.
Jonathan Garnett, MNDPC creative director and partner, says: “From the outset of the Miami project, it was understood that there was an opportunity to expand our shared design vision by focusing on four big ideas: bringing a piece of New York City to Miami; refining the design concepts created for the original location; capturing the elegant spirit of Miami’s iconic Art Deco architecture; and embodying the modernity and luxury of the Miami Design District.”
The restaurant’s Art Deco façade punctuates the setting with a vernacular of stucco, brass, and sculpted openings. A custom, recessed sign serves as a key focal point as well. “It is a sculptural, architectural element by day, and a contemporary art installation by night,” Garnett says of the sign. “It not only directly identifies the restaurant by brand, but also serves as an intriguing symbol for the experience beyond the black glass entry doors.”
Inside, COTE Miami is characterized by an interactive dining experience, with tables inlaid with bespoke, smokeless charcoal grills. Sexy and swanky, the 5,892-square-foot space is enlivened by modern artwork and an attention-grabbing ovular bar. In addition to the 110-seat main dining room, the concept boasts a red-light dry aging room and dual private dining rooms.
“COTE has always been about balance between the high-brow and low-brow, both the fun and the fire,” adds COTE proprietor Simon Kim. “We built COTE Miami with the vibrancy and flair of those famous Miami nights out in mind. I wanted to focus on the glamour of the dark nightclub in juxtaposition with the refinement of a Michelin-star restaurant.”
