Brighton, England-based practice DesignLSM has completed work on the new eatery, Indian Accent, along Albemarle Street in the London neighborhood of Mayfair. The third outpost in the restaurant’s portfolio, the new Indian Accent is housed across two floors of a fully refurbished Grade II-listed building, whose heritage informed much of the understated exterior design.
Passersby and visitors are welcomed with a traditional timber storefront adorned with a minimalist color palette and a dark gray backdrop. Opulent glass doors open to the warm lobby area, which is clad with natural stone flooring, dark gray polished plaster walls, and walnut joinery detailed with a thin brass edging. A traditional liquor cabinet displays an array of international whiskey.
The dining room exudes restrained elegance with decorative jali screens, luxe green velvet seating, and authentic textured plaster walls. A spiral staircase designed with brass fretwork recalls traditional Indian architecture as it guides diners between floors.
