DesignLSM has revealed design updates at London eatery Gaucho Charlotte Street. Located in the city’s Bloomsbury neighborhood, the polished and layered redesign reflects the modernity and spirit of Argentina, with references to the country’s Gaucho culture.
New mirror paneling elevates the storefront to literally reflect the vibrancy of the city, while interiors are reimagined to evoke Argentina’s landscapes of Argentina through notes of ochre, deep blue, and earth tones. The ground floor is infused with a warm, ambient palette and features a black marble bar with white veining. Intimate leather booths are upholstered in crushed velvet, calling to mind traditional Argentine stables, and sit beneath a lasso-inspired light sculpture, which is suspended above a metal staircase that brings diners to the main restaurant space. A 21-seat private dining room and a four-counter beef bar round out the interiors.
“Exploring the cultural and visual narrative of Argentina and the Gaucho way of life, considering its spirit and stunning landscapes—from the dramatic mountainscapes to the Pampas region through to the high-altitude vineyards,” says Emma Farren, senior designer for DesignLSM. “It was important that we still stayed true to the brand’s roots but with a creative approach that would move away from the cowhide of old and on to a more refined aesthetic that celebrates the modern-day Gaucho.”
