Devon, the newest dining and bar concept from Zabar’s family has debuted in New York’s Lower East Side, courtesy of twins Oliver and Sasha Zabar. Architect David McMurray of locally based Punch Designer Services oversaw the vibrant interiors, which draws inspiration from the Memphis art movement of the 1980s.
Anchored by a 50-seat cocktail lounge and a bar, the space is wrapped in bright colors and geometric shapes that reference Art Deco. An S-shaped partition divides the bar and dining room, while pastel-hued front doors, green leather banquettes, and a back bar clad with graphic mirrors and corrugated colored glass express the vibrant flair of Devon. Placed as a discreet detail, the top of the drink rail lined with recycled terrazzo to reflect the legacy of the restaurants within the Zabar’s family.
