The versatile new bakery concept Beckeria has debuted in Zurich with designs from locally based design practice Dyer-Smith Frey. Punctuated with custom furniture, the 2,860-square-foot industrial interior accommodates a variety of visitors across spaces partitioned with expanded metal room dividers and suspensions.
Customers are greeted by the bright and central sales counter crafted from matte, gray concrete clad with a working and presentation surface made of natural stone. A light cereal area is installed beside the counter, furnished with high tables and natural oak chairs. Dark woods and upholstered benches and chairs contrast the coffee shop and lounge area, which is equipped with its own barista bar.
A black marble grill bar features an attached counter made from anthracite-colored concrete that forms a gastronomic bridge from lunch into dinner. A high table is installed opposite the bar and complemented with leather-covered bar stools, while a long dining table of light oak seats up to eight diners. Solid herringbone wood floors crafted from oiled light oak also complete the aesthetic of the dining space.
