Valencia-based studio Masquespacio, led by Ana Hernández and Christophe Penasse, has unveiled its latest project: a 538-square-foot Egeo souvlaki in Madrid.
The project marks the second collaboration between the design team and the brand, following their debut in Valencia.
Modernizing ancient Greek aesthetics
For the new iteration, Masquespacio introduces a more mature, introspective design inspired by the myth of Pandora. Rooted in the idea of resilience and beauty emerging from adversity, the space evokes mystery and discovery while embracing a calming material palette.
Soft beige tones create a sense of sophistication, punctuated by light touches of electric blue as a subtle nod to Egeo’s visual identity.
Materiality takes centerstage in the storytelling, with distinctive 3D-printed cladding columns anchoring the space. These sculptural forms feature an organic, stratified texture that recalls both the solidity of marble quarries and a dramatic reinterpretation of ancient Greece.
“After the vibrant experience in Valencia, we wanted to offer a more introspective vision of Egeo in Madrid, recognizing its trajectory,” says Hernández, art director of Masquespacio. “The myth of Pandora provided us with a rich narrative to explore the duality between difficulty and hope, translating into a space with a deeper and more reflective beauty. The choice of beige tones and touches of electric blue connect with the brand, while the 3D-printed columns are a dramatic reinterpretation of antiquity, merging the solidity of marble with a contemporary vision.”
