The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa is set to introduce its newest F&B space, Ember & Rye, next month as part of the final phase of its $50 million renovation. Both refined and relaxed, the concept by chef Richard Blais will evoke an unmistakable coastal southern California ethos via a design by Washington, DC-based Grizform Design Architects.
Overlooking the Batiquitos Lagoon, the restaurant occupies a modern, sundrenched space that reinterprets the traditional clubhouse experience. A vibrant color palette is accented by brass and black notes that complement a synthesis of contemporary and vintage elements.
Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a lively bar and an interactive chef’s station that serve as key focal points. “My favorite elements are the bar detailing, trim work, and clever design features,” says Ashley Kirkland, director of interior architecture at GrizForm. “Ember & Rye embraces its golf club identity in various ways—a classic plaid pattern is rescaled for a modern vibe, while bar detailing hints to vintage influences highlighting embossed leathers and metal trim detailing.”
An oversized, double-sided banquette and full-length wraparound windows anchor one of the two dining rooms, while glass barn doors frame the second, which features an outdoor dining terrace as well. A newly enclosed, semi-private dining room is also equipped to host up to 55 guests.
