Located in San Diego’s La Jolla neighborhood, Fleurette embodies the effortless elegance of seaside living, drawing from chef Travis Swikard’s ties to Southern California and the French Riviera.
Beneath an undulating, sail-like ceiling
Designed by Los Angeles-based Studio UNLTD, the restaurant channels the dialogue between land and sea through natural materials, sculptural forms, and vibrant color.
A freestanding modern structure clad in rust-colored steel sets a striking first impression, giving way to interiors that feel both sensual and welcoming. Vintage-inflected paneling inspired by antique yachts pairs with terrazzo floors in soft coastal hues and faded blue velvet seating. Portraits of the chef’s mentors add a personal layer of storytelling.

At the center of the restaurant, a monolithic elliptical bar wrapped in travertine anchors the room beneath a dramatically sloping ceiling. Oceanic stone, copper accents, and rusty red stools subtly reference seaside cliffs. A dynamic fabric lighting installation ripples overhead like sails in motion, which is visible from the exterior as a glowing focal point.
A restrained maritime palette of blues is punctuated by hot pink piping and copper details. Curved banquettes shape intimate dining pockets around the open kitchen, where an olive-toned cooking suite stands as a visual anchor.
More spaces to gather at Fleurette
Wood-paneled corridors lead to a glass-enclosed red wine room and a private dining space sporting botanical wallcoverings, walnut tables, and a chandelier reminiscent of drifting jellyfish.
The experience culminates outdoors in a glass-enclosed greenhouse dining area that invites garden views and ocean air inside.
