Locally based firm Zimmeramn Weintraub Associates (ZWA) has completed work on Chicago’s newest steakhouse concept, Gibsons Italia. Located in the West Loop, the modern Italian steakhouse spans three levels.
ZWA led a design team that included local practice Antunovich Associates and Deerfield, Illinois-based Knauer. The Milan-inspired eatery is adorned with a sophisticated midcentury-style aesthetic evocative of Chicago. White marble tables and gray leather chairs populate the dining room, modeled to resemble the desk chair used in the office of racecar entrepreneur Enzo Ferrari.
Booths are detailed with saddle stitching that pays homage to traditional Italian craftsmanship. Tan leather chairs that overlook the wine wall accent the sleek black bar, while backlit onyx walls complete the picture. Boasting panoramic views, the third floor of the restaurant is anchored by a white marble bar installed beneath a massive, retractable roof.
