The Hammer Museum in Los Angeles has introduced Audrey at the Hammer, its new onsite F&B venue from restaurateur Soa Davies Forrest and chef Lisa Giffen. Locally based firm Michael Maltzan Architecture collaborated with LA- and London-based Fettle Design on the design, which debuts as part of the multiphase renovation and expansion of the Hammer Museum.
The 115-seat restaurant, which is named for philanthropist and Hammer board member Audrey Irmas, is housed in a newly built volume that spans into the museum’s courtyard. Punctuated by a tile installation by Cuban artist Jorge Pardo, who also designed the signature suspended lighting fixtures, the modern interiors reflect the inclusive and approachable identity of the Hammer Museum. The space is accentuated by olive leather- and mohair-covered banquettes, cove lighting, wood floors, and a 30-foot-long indoor-outdoor bar, which is wrapped in precast concrete panels and satin nickel fixture accents.
