Hoopla Donuts has debuted as the sole donut venue in Calgary that retails gluten-free and vegan options. From local coffee brand Phil & Sebastian, the novel concept is crafted with a minimalist character executed by Canadian architecture and design firm McKinley Burkart, who injected a new brightness into the busy downtown corridor.
Soft, playful tones are juxtaposed with familiar materials such as birch plywood and concrete to infuse a sense of joy. The vibrant, sensory experience is punctuated with dichroic glass window inserts and colorful tiles inspired by the brand’s own palette and donut glazing. The flush counter edge detail is also a standout.
