Chef Enrique Limardo and Ezequiel Vázquez-Ger will unveil their latest F&B venue, Imperfecto, later this week in the West End section of Washington, DC. The Mediterranean and Latin American concept features a vibrant and sophisticated design that’s as bold as the cuisine. Led by Stockholm- and Athens-based OOAK Architects, the interiors of the 98-seat restaurant will reflect a Mediterranean influence through refreshing colors and noble materials.
“The success of the restaurant is based both on the quality and presentation of the food and the overall restaurant experience,” says OOAK cofounder and architect Maria Papafigou. “As the ingredients come together for the whole of the dish, as does the interior design, with the distinct slanted structural columns complementing other objects inspired by the Mediterranean. The result is a playful-yet-elegant and fashion-forward environment where the whole composition is greater than the individual elements.”
Natural materials and bold shapes establish a refined, modern atmosphere. A palette of white, black, and blue hues accent warm wood and artisanal terracotta elements, while a variety of high-quality finishes and authentic materials—like Greek and Italian marble—contrast brass and wood features. Reminiscent of a marble quarry, the restaurant’s textured backdrop will range from shiny and matte to lean and rough surfaces in orderr to distinguish its various spaces. Bespoke furniture, including a host desk made of burl wood, is complemented by handmade ceramic tile artwork and custom overhead light fixtures. Plus, banquette silos lining the dining room showcase leather upholstery illuminated by dome lighting. In addition to the main dining room, Imperfecto is also home to a 30-person private dining area and a 60-seat outdoor patio.
