The José Andrés-led vegetarian-dining concept Beefsteak from ThinkFoodGroup has launched two new locations in Philadelphia and one in the Washington, DC metro area. Located on the University of Pennsylvania’s campus, the Philadelphia eatery is the brand’s first outside of the DC market. The latest DC locations in the Tenleytown and Bethesda neighborhoods opened in June.
All three restaurants were designed by New York’s HBC Architects and Barcelona-based Garcia Capella Arquitectura. The aesthetic blends both natural and urban elements with spruce-colored floors, tables, and stadium seating in some locations. An agrarian sensibility is infused into the environment as well with hanging vegetable crate light fixtures, blue and white ceramic tiles, and a mural of farm fields. In addition, vibrant murals depicting a vegetable universe from Spanish artists Juan and Alejandro Mingarro of the Barcelona-based studio Brosmind adorn the walls.
