The Setai, Miami Beach has unveiled Jo’s Bar, a newly reimagined lobby bar conceived by Saladino Design Studios (the same firm behind the hotel’s Japón restaurant).
Named in tribute to the hotel’s owner, Joe of the Nakash Family, the bar occupies a natural pivot point between Jaya and Japón, overlooking the Setai’s serene central courtyard.
A back bar built for the spotlight
At the heart of the design is a sculptural back bar constructed from intricately crafted “floating” resin blocks, each distinguished by its own texture and embedded gold leaf.
Hovering before this luminous installation, 10-foot glass shelves framed in brushed brass transform, what might otherwise be, a standard bottle display into something more akin to an art installation—glowing, layered, and intentional.
Materiality at Jo’s Bar
The bar counter is anchored in Rosso Levanto stone, its deep burgundy tones and white veining softened by a bamboo-inspired relief and rounded edges designed to encourage lingering. A custom wine tower and bespoke lighting fixtures wrapped in handpainted gold mesh complete the composition, lending the space a quiet intimacy.
“Designing the lobby bar meant creating a space that feels both rooted in the Setai’s Art Deco legacy and alive with modern, intimate energy,” says Sean Saladino, chief designer at Saladino Design Studios. “Each material was chosen to evoke warmth and quiet drama, from the sculptural resin forms of the back bar to the carved stone and brass details. The result is a bar that doesn’t simply sit within the lobby—it becomes a glowing centerpiece that celebrates the hotel’s timeless elegance.”
