Renowned Denver eatery, chef Richard Sandoval’s Zengo, has announced plans to close later this month to undergo a large-scale redesign by Dubai-based studio LW Design Group.
Striking an optimal balance of Asian influences, the upgraded space will welcome guests around a pivot door into the restaurant, which will feature open timber slot ceilings and sculptural origami birds. A suviche counter, robata grill, and main bar will extend along windows with views of the Rocky Mountains and the city’s Riverfront Park. Encased in a grand birdcage, the dining room will include concrete floors with metallic veining as well as walnut wood and charcoal and blue palette. Refined antique cabinetry, brushed brass, tile and patina copper details and leather and cotton fabrics are key design highlights.
The restaurant is slated to reopen in late September or early October with an updated menu.
