The avant-garde gastronomical restaurant, MAD, has debuted in the River Oaks District of Houston. Designed by Spanish design firm Lazaro Rosa Violán Studio, the eatery is inspired by Madrid’s famous La Movida Madrileña, a vibrant, colorful cultural movement during the 1980s.
This colorful pulse of the Spanish culture is woven throughout the bold space, which features whimsical, design-driven touches like moving mirrors in the bar, and abstract and Brutalist artwork all over its 6,000-square-foot space. The centerpiece of MAD, however, is the golden Dual Cassini space probe sculptures composed of electro-coated 3D-printed materials.
In addition to the 122-seat dining room, MAD is also home to private dining rooms and a central bar, as well as a patio that accommodates small parties.
