Washington, DC-based firms KNEAD Hospitality & Design and //3877 have unveiled their collaborative design for the first Mah-Ze-Dahr Bakery outside of New York. Located in the nation’s capital, the new confectionary and café is adorned with the brand’s signature deep blue and marble décor, accented by a 20-foot beaded curtain that infuses shimmer and shine across the interior.
In addition to dramatic blue tones and opulent surfaces, soft grays add a sense of balance to the airy-yet-moody atmosphere. Polished chrome pendants are suspended along the curtain installation to warmly illuminate the marble accents and punctuate the arrival experience. The monolithic coffee counter is composed of solid slabs of quartz to further inject a sense of sophistication, while an ombré wallcovering sheathing the rear wall fades from blue to gray, complementing the light gray herringbone floors, which were sourced from Italy.
