Mama Bird debuted earlier this fall as the newest health-focused eatery in the Slabtown section of Portland, Oregon. Chef Gabriel Pascuzzi not only crafted the restaurant’s menu but also its interior design, which echoes the clean and inviting qualities of the cuisine.
Pascuzzi infused a sense of the outdoors throughout the interior, which is anchored by a central, custom wood fire grill and open kitchen. Designed at the intersection of industrial and modern agricultural aesthetics, Mama Bird employs a wood material palette with notes of metal and concrete.
Lush greenery offsets details like breezeblocks, while chicken-print wallpaper is illuminated by Edison bulbs suspended in a chevron pattern. A reclaimed milk beam sourced from an old dairy farm is installed alongside refurbished carriage doors.
Tabletops and counters are clad with custom Parallam and accented with plush banquettes and communal or individual counter seating options. The outdoor patio at Mama Bird can accommodate diners throughout the year, thanks to a firepit and heat lamps.
