Valencia, Spain design studio Masquespacio has unveiled the two-story Kaikaya, a new tropical sushi concept in its hometown. The modern, eclectic atmosphere pops with color as it merges both Japanese and Brazilian design sensibilities across nearly 1,300 square feet.
Existing elements like the venue’s vaults, metallic beams, and original brickwork are highlighted to capture the beauty of imperfections over time. Raffa circles, representative of hats typically worn during rice collection, punctuate the arrival experience, while traditional Japanese wooden patterns are showcased beside colorful motifs inspired by 1970s Brazil. To finish the look, custom parrot lamps with palm leaves add a playful touch.
