London’s May Fair Kitchen has reopened on inside the May Fair Hotel on Stratton Street following a speedy two-week makeover. The Mediterranean eatery has unveiled new takes on Spanish and Italian cuisine, embracing a shared dining concept in an upscale but unassuming environment. The transformation was overseen by the restaurant’s services excellence director Amir Jati, who previously served as head of private dining for Nobu.
“The new May Fair Kitchen is going to sit alongside the best of the area’s burgeoning food scene. Our aim is to create something beautiful, social and most importantly unique in London’s iconic district of Mayfair,” says Jati. “The concept is simple, light, fresh, delicious food to be shared among friends and colleagues alike in London’s luxury quarter.”
Rob Steul, creative director of Edwardian Group London—which manages the May Fair—reinvented the space to accentuate the open Mediterranean vision. Floor-to-ceiling windows have been installed in place of walls to establish an organic path between the lobby and dining room. Varying in height, elegant marble and copper-topped tables fill the restaurant, and inviting leather chairs surround two large feature tables, designed for more leisurely meals. The noir-inspired lounge bar encourages intimate or late-night drinks.
