Knead Hospitality + Design has completed work on Mi Vida, the new Mexican street food concept located within the new Wharf development in Washington, DC. The locally based practice partnered with fellow DC architecture firm //3877 to craft the 11,000-square-foot waterfront restaurant, which overlooks the Potomac River.
While floor-to-ceiling windows reinforce the outdoors, the 350-seat eatery features an industrial aesthetic accented with contemporary elements and historic Mexican décor. The interior is anchored by a central interpretation of a traditional Mexican Árbol de la Vida, or Tree of Life. The 19-foot-tall clay sculpture acts as the focal point of the dining room, which is also adorned with colorful Oaxacan-inspired florals. Along with private dining rooms, waterfront patio seating is punctuated with firepits and a climate-controlled pergola.
