California Pizza Kitchen founders Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax have launched their latest dining concept, Bottlefish, in the iconic Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood Gardens. Crafted by Austin- and Scottsdale-based Nelsen Partners, the contemporary restaurant aims to fill a void for seafood options in LA, while also being accessible to the surrounding neighborhood.
The floorplan comprises three interconnected spaces: a 36-seat covered and heated patio; an 88-seat main dining room; and the 16-seat bar area overlooking the entire venue. A floor-to-ceiling 450-bottle wine display, sliding-glass-enclosed exhibition kitchen, and raw bar all serve as focal points and to promote the freshness and quality of the cuisine. Light wood, stone accents, and neutral textiles are complemented by industrial steel elements to infuse the comfortable space with an upscale ambiance. Wood-planked ceilings and the shimmering, white-scaled walls behind the bar add texture as well as a subtle nautical reference.
