Chef Damien Domenico has launched his latest eatery, Norsk Dor, in Sydney. Envisioned to resemble a traditional Nordic cabin, the restaurant’s Australian roots are represented with Australian hardwood and brushwood timber from the Central Coast of New South Wales.
Guests enter through concrete stairs and a subterranean pathway abuzz with custom wall animation and sound effects of a wolf’s howl.
Inside, two living plant pillars are covered with sprawling vines and moss, which is also installed on the dining room ceiling. Honoring Scandinavian design signatures, bespoke Edison bulbs contrast the gray and blue feature walls, warming the interior. Crafted from the same industrial timber, bench dividers convey a unified palette with rustic brass casing
The restaurant’s bar is topped with repurposed timber, while locally sourced bricks perpetuate an industrial ambiance under the bar and in the dining room. A nod to Scandinavian food culture, jars of pickled fruits and vegetables add splashes of color to the bar area.
