Ocean at Main has debuted in Laguna Beach, California. Housed within a 1940s-era structure that was the former home of the office for the Laguna Federal Savings and Loan, the restaurant embraces its original Spanish Revival style with many historic fixtures left intact.
Inspired by its breezy surroundings, locally based designer Laurie Alter crafted the 4,500-square-foot eatery with traditional Spanish white walls to highlight the original wooden ceiling beams. Oversized wrought iron chandeliers, hand-distressed tables, and a variety of seating are dressed in tones of soft gray, ocean blue, sea glass, and seafoam. Mediterranean-style tiling, natural textures, and local artwork connect the 85-seat interior to the outdoors. A preserved wall-sized fountain accented with blue and yellow clay tile and flanked by two murals from local artist Boris Buzan anchor the 41-seat patio.
