Abounding with color and whimsy, Montreal eatery Pastel Rita houses a café, boutique, and artisan workshop across 1,500 square feet in the city’s Mile End creative hub. Designed by Appareil Architecture and located along St. Laurent Street, the storefront greets passersby with large windows that inject abundant natural light into the setting, which features three specified spaces differentiated with respective green, pink, and gold tones. Pale linoleum flooring spans the entirety of the interior for uniformity, while a gold corridor runs through its center.
The warm café area is anchored by a large central bar, behind which a partition of wooden slates and large, arch-shaped voids separates the space from the boutique. The arches aptly frame the handbags, hats, and leather accessories on display, which also features similar gold tones to the hallway. Clad entirely in pale pink, a seating area in the rear is outfitted with booths and matching tables and chairs, while the workshop is endowed with white walls and ceilings as well as rustic wood and steel furnishings to contrast the rest of the design.
