Located in the Little Tokyo section of Los Angeles, Yapa is an immersive new izakaya concept that fuses Japanese and Latin cultures. The interior design by locally based studio Preen Inc. combines the restrained aesthetic typical of an izakaya with a vibrant, distinctly Latin flair.
The interior is enveloped in a natural, earthy palette, serving as a retreat from the bustle of the city. References to the seasons are found throughout the 3,000-square-foot space: a large picture window framing the kitchen represents an autumnal harvest, the patio enclave radiates spring with an abundance of greenery, and summer is echoed through blond wood and natural textures. Dried plants and herbs are suspended from the bar’s ceiling, creating a decorative focal point as well as an ingredient source for cocktails and dishes.
