The Czech Radio building, located on Prague’s Vinohradská Street, has been updated with the addition of a new café concept on its ground floor. Embracing elements of the structure’s original 1930s design, Radiocafé Vinohradská 12 features a simple, elegant, and functional scheme imagined by Czech studio CMC Architects.
The space’s warm, neutral palette comprises a variety of natural materials, including oak, brass, and marble. The entrance leads to the sleek bar area, which then extends to the main seating section just a few steps up.
Designed as a place to promote the radio industry and host live broadcasts and social events, the café was created with sound insulation and absorption top of mind. To do so, an acoustic ceiling is outfitted with golden, circular voids, and a double-walled glass partition reduces noise coming from the street.
