Ramona restaurant has debuted in western Amsterdam with an eccentric, bohemian design from Studio Modijefsky. The local firm conceived the vibrant eatery as the rebellious daughter of a traditional Belgian café owner coming into her own.
Crafted with references to classic bars, including stained glass and dark wood, the interior is separated into four areas. The bar greets visitors at the entrance, while the sunny dining room overlooks the canal. A separate lounge space is designed with black marble tile floors and the upper section of the kitchen stands out with bright orange paneling. Geometric stained glass windows inform the shape of the bar, which is composed of beige travertine, white terrazzo tiles, and bricks. Similar geometric forms pop up in a bespoke wall cabinet installed above the backbar.
Ceilings are also graphically divided with acoustic panels framed by linear lightboxes that emit a warm glow within the bar space. In addition to glossy handmade tiles and colored mirrors, gray plaster walls offset the painted curved wood paneling in the bar as well.
