Red’s True BBQ has opened its latest outpost at intu Eldon Square in Newcastle. Hove, UK-based firm DesignLSM crafted the 240-seat eatery with a stripped-down interior that honors the art of barbecuing. This is translated through large wall graphics and the intimate confessional areas, which include a private dining room and dedicated smoker’s area.

The firm collaborated with brand founders James Douglas and Scott Munro on the design, drawing inspiration from the rustic shacks and warehouses occupied by the duo during their annual trip to South America.
Rough materials and large, brash wall graphics highlight a raw and masculine aesthetic. Bespoke bike chain chandeliers descend from the ceiling, while steel gas canisters and reclaimed shipping containers—furnished with decorative layers of wire mesh and corrugated iron—add to the rugged motif. Glazed steel caging, 3D cladding, and repurposed timber are also featured.
