The two Michelin-starred London restaurant Hélèn Darroze at the Connaught at the city’s iconic Connaught Hotel has returned from its two-month refurbishment by Parisian interior architect Pierre Yovanovitch, who reimagined the posh eatery with a classic European flair.
Upon the entrance, guests are welcomed by two Damien Hirst paintings sitting on opposite sides of the dining room, reinvented in deep hues and rich textiles. The dark oak-paneled walls are lightened to create a sunnier space which is also illuminated with a bespoke chandelier crafted from hand-blown, blue lacquered glass and wrought iron, suspended above the oak tables. Adorned with tactile tones of soft pink, tan, and green, curved banquettes are wrapped in leather or velvet.
Matching the top-notch culinary presentation of the restaurant, the consommé bowls from the ceramic artist Ema Pradere are featured at the opening of each menu. The remodeled show kitchen downstairs is now home to the Chef’s Table, featuring a pink marble tabletop decorated with Matteo Gonet lamps, and surrounded by oak-paneled walls and armchairs.
