Named for Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke, the new eatery and bar concept Rilke has debuted along the Calle Mallorca in Barcelona’s fashionable Eixample district. Crafted by locally based interior designer Yoland Vilata, the unique gastronomy destination replaces former restaurant Beltxenea, but channels the history of the address with original modern furniture and an inspired, majestic ambiance.
Outfitted within a romantic, first-floor apartment, Rilke greets visitors with the cocktail bar and a backdrop of historic, ornate moldings and ample velvet. In addition to the dining room, private, reserve spaces are featured inside, including a glass cellar and a whiskey and cigar room. Rilke also boasts a rear terrace and garden with abundant potted palms and statues from the early 19th century.
