New York-based architecture firm Rockwell Group collaborated with Catch Hospitality Group to overhaul the minimalist BarMasa spa into the vibrant new Catch Las Vegas. A convivial new fixture at the Aria Resort & Casino, the previously understated space is reimagined as a fecund midsummer night’s dream.
An 80-foot-long entry tunnel welcomes visitors with a heightened sense of drama apt for its Las Vegas Strip backdrop. Sourced from defunct farms and warehouses, reclaimed red and white oak floors line the arrival experience, while twinkling lights and flowers are accented by floral artwork. Beyond the cinematic entryway, the bar sits beneath 15-foot-tall vaulted ceilings tiled with whitewashed teak wood, flanked by arched ceilings of reclaimed redwood and hand-distressed brick walls. The teak bar is crowned with exotic green and blue quartzite and backed with a glowing 10-tier liquor display. Planted beneath a faux skylight, a large Mediterranean olive tree anchors the main dining room where rustic wood trellises are suspended above the seating for an outdoor-inspired ambiance further perpetuated by darkly stained hickory floors. Custom Italian leather banquettes also line the space, reminiscent of bird cages.
Just off the dining room, a lounge evokes a private library with a moodier palette. A sculptural crystal chandelier serves as the focal point of the room, while soft velvet banquettes, dark walnut walls, and a tufted leather bar all channel a speakeasy aesthetic. A sushi bar adorned with handmade teal tiles that resemble patina copper is installed to the left of the dining room. Guests can observe the sushi theater as they enjoy dishes atop a counter of Brazilian white quartzite subtly veined in green and blue.
