Rockwell Group has redeveloped the 19,000-square-foot OMNIA San Diego nightclub, which will open this week. The New York-based firm also completed the OMNIA Las Vegas.
A main club, balcony level, and rooftop terrace comprise the nightclub concept by the Hakkasan Group. Situated in the former Stingaree nightclub space in the city’s Gaslamp Quarter, the building’s new façade references its location with blackened metal and doors clad in decorative hardware pulls. A general admission vestibule was composed as a jewel box-like space with a burgundy velvet wallcovering at the ticketing desk, dark polished stone flooring, and a mirrored portal with LED screens embedded on the walls.
The club’s 8,000-square-foot main room features a black, gold, and dark walnut color palette highlighted in its walnut wood plank dance floor encircled by curved gold leather-upholstered banquettes. Walls are clad in black and gold custom wallcoverings that create a horizontal pattern of gold accents embedded with horizontal LED strips. The main bar features a stone bartop and gold beveled tile bar dye with a crocodile-embossed back wall.
The staircases—set behind custom brass laser-cut patterned screens—leading to the rooftop serve as a leitmotif and connect the distinct spaces. A 4,000-square-foot balcony level includes a bar set in front of a wall designed to mimic tin ceiling patterns. The 7,000-square-foot rooftop will feature a modern garden with a terrace complete with tiered cabanas and sofas.
