The Upper House hotel in Hong Kong has unveiled a new addition to its F&B lineup: Salisterra. Located on the hotel’s 49th level, the layered gastronomic and dining concept evokes the richness of the Mediterranean and the warmth of a neighborhood bistro thanks to the design conceived by Hong Kong-based André Fu.
“The journey of Salisterra is rooted in the notion of modern authenticity,” Fu says. “It is a curation of experiences that is highly layered, with moments of bold evolution to transport our guests into a world of earthy Mediterranean tones, intriguing textures and surprising geometries.”
A full-height bronze gate welcomes guests on the sky bridge, leading them into the dining room, which anchored by a bespoke chandelier that comprises more than 80 glass lanterns. The vivid color palette comprises immersive hues like terracotta orange, mud burgundy, mineral blue, dusty turquoise, and golden caramel to establish five different areas within the space. Beyond the main dining room, three semiprivate spaces are distinguished with elevated marble counter tables and whimsical globe pendants suspended by a large copper cone base.
The private dining room, located at the rear of the restaurant, hosts a chef’s table experience accented by a display of copper pans and handmade ceramic tiles in a bronze patina glaze.
At the opposite end of the interior, a long bar composed of rustic burgundy marble is installed alongside adjoining bar booths illuminated by glowing half-sphere pendants. A bar lounge stands out as a sky-high oasis with artful references to nature and an aesthetic reminiscent of a backstage green room. High gloss racing green lacquers adorn the space along with vivid Pevla stone inspired by the abstract landscapes of Wes Anderson films.
