Copenhagen-based design practice Norm Architects has completed work on its largest restaurant project—Sticks n Sushi—on King’s Road in London’s Chelsea neighborhood. The 220-seat eatery serves as an intersection of Scandinavian and Japanese minimalism while also evoking the posh atmosphere of the neighborhood.
Sticks n Sushi embraces a mostly monochromatic palette of warm yet understated tones across three floors. Natural materials, including oak grid ceilings, inject softness into the interior, while custom woodwork and stone tabletops on the ground floor contrasts some of the design’s more Danish or industrial elements, like the blackened steel bar. Japanese lamps illuminate the steel staircase, while similar lantern-style fixtures are installed to illuminate the semi-private dining room.
