Los Angeles-based Studio Hus has completed Little Pine, a vegan restaurant owned by musician Moby. Located in LA’s Silver Lake neighborhood, the restaurant embodies a clean, midcentury modern aesthetic with rustic touches.
“We were commissioned by Moby to create a space that was an extension of the community; something that felt inviting and warm with a clean, midcentury aesthetic,” says Tatum Kendrick, founder of Studio Hus. “Moby loves midcentury modern, but we wanted to warm it up with some eclectic touches that harken back to a welcoming lodge you would find in the Adirondacks.”
The restaurant, which is located in a 1920s art deco building, features copious natural light. Design highlights include raw poplar and plywood details, including hand painted plywood tiles by Moonish, mixed with lively patterns, textures and tiles. Midcentury modern pieces such as vintage credenzas and Eames chairs are combined with custom modular shelving, tables, and banquettes created by Studio Hus. Behind the banquettes hang custom murals featuring black and white photographs by Moby that depict southern California’s Idyllwild forest, as well as the Mount Baldy Pine forest.
Additional highlights include a custom color and brass chandelier by Jason Koharik, as well as custom powdercoated stools.
