As part of its ongoing renovation, the Fairmont Mayakoba in Mexico’s Riviera Maya has further expanded its F&B lineup with the launch of steakhouse Tauro. The 4,700-square-foot upscale restaurant was crafted by Room 1804 Design to evoke a modern speakeasy with Parisian influences.
“We imagined a French bistro, with its terraces, and dining in a street of any French city in front of the windows of a boucherie-charcuterie or a cave,” Room 1804 explains in a statement. “That was the experience we wanted our customers to live—a place where they can feel transported to an experience of cuisine and charm.”
Inspired by the strength restaurant’s namesake, the bull, the space employs noble materials—like Carrara and Marquina marble—to conjure durability and timelessness.
Tauro’s cocktail bar was conceived to recall a private club, heralding guests’ journey into a harmony of savage and sophistication. Deep blue tones command the design, which features classic fabrications from lush velvets to fringe accents. Dark lacquered tones of wood elements further convey French classicism, while opal glass light fixtures inject a dash of Art Deco into the atmosphere.
