Shanghai-based design firm MTMDESIGN has unveiled its design for the third iteration of Spanish eatery Tomatito, located inside a 1930s warehouse in the heart of Saigon’s District 1.
The 3,230-square-foot tapas concept seats nearly 100 diners across three spaces: the lounge, dining room, and bar. The restaurant pays homage to traditional Spanish culture with elements that vary in style and era. Set against a bold red color palette, the design is punctuated with details such as metal inserts and neon lights installed above the bar. The casual ambiance is achieved with an open kitchen visible through semi-open iron windows. Objects and vintage artwork sourced from Spanish markets populate the space alongside sculptures that echo the bullheads and bullfighting apparel found in the artwork of Pablo Picasso.
