Founded by Amrou Manaseer and Tosh Berman, hospitality group Everyday Life (EDL) has launched its new Cake nightclub in the former Voyeur space in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.
“When the opportunity came to purchase Voyeur, it was a no-brainer to design and build our flagship Cake nightclub on the foundation of this location,” says Berman. “We have always wanted to be part of the Gaslamp hospitality scene.”
Designed by Berman, the 6,000-square-foot, two-level nightlife destination follows in the footsteps of its Scottsdale predecessor and was built to resemble an abandoned French chateau with an Alice in Wonderland aesthetic. Interiors include a main room and mezzanine level featuring antique whitewashed wood, crystal and gold chandeliers, and hand-tooled leather banquettes.
Central to the venue, a Baroque-inspired DJ booth is clad with a 30-foot, translucent LCD display—the first of its kind with the highest resolution screens ever installed in a nightclub—and surrounded by a dance floor.
