Chef Jared Sippel’s latest eatery Italienne will be unveiled this August in New York’s Flatiron neighborhood. Designs from New York-based firm Tree House Design will channel the warm aesthetic of the French countryside while also reflecting late 19th-century New York architecture and Art Nouveau influences.
Design highlights include wide-plank wood floors, antique mirrors, and custom pendant lights fashioned from vintage French wine carafes. Italian influences can be seen in the limestone-lined walls and the taverna bar, cut from white Carrara marble. Many elements are sourced from the team’s research trips to Europe, including olive wood boards from Provence and a refurbished red antique Italian Berkel slicer from 1912.
The dining room features leather banquettes alongside butcher block tables made from natural walnut planks. A Carrara marble salumi and pastry bar is set in one corner, while the room’s centerpiece is the wine service counter wrapped around a column, featuring wine shelves on all sides.
