London-based design firm Morris+Company has added a new restaurant space to the Wildernesse Estate retirement community in Kent, England. Set upon a masonry base, the vaulted timber eatery draws inspiration from the site’s main house.
The Wildernesse Restaurant serves as the nucleus of the community, which comprises 265 apartments spread across five villas. Large windows frame views of the estate’s green outdoors, while a roof lantern above the open kitchen casts a gentle shadow in the afternoon sun. A private dining room is partitioned from the dining room, bar, and deli via a flexible curtain system that also ensures acoustic insulation.
