Trendy LA staple Erewhon heads to New York, RH Paris to open on Champs-Élysées, and fashion icon Giorgio Armani passes away at 91. All that and more in this week’s Five on Friday.
RH teases Paris address

American home furnishings giant RH offered a glimpse into its latest European outpost following a major expansion in the continent beginning in 2023. The luxury brand is set to unveil RH Paris inside a Champs-Élysées address transformed into “a jewel box” by Foster + Partners, Financial Times reports. Reminiscent of some of the city’s poshest ateliers, RH Paris heralds visitors through gilded 18-foot-tall gates and a galleried atrium into a design and architecture library lined with custom onyx floors. A grandiose staircase outfitted with brass medallion balustrades serves as a focal point of the transformed interior that once housed an Abercrombie & Fitch store across its upper floors. Beyond a medley of branded furnishings, RH Paris will feature an interior design studio, garden, and several restaurants endowed with covet-worthy artwork. A standout: the rooftop overlooks the Eiffel Tower (as you probably already guessed).
These perfumes might make you hotter

Just in time for cuffing season, new Vyrao scents Ludatrix and Ludeaux vow to make good on the promise issued by every fragrance ad since the 1990s—they’ll make you more desirable. Wallpaper reports that the brand drew upon “neuroscience research and alternative healing philosophies” to develop dual fragrances that will elevate flirty feelings of arousal, passion, and seduction. A base of musk and ambrox are shared by both scents along with a latex accord. Ludatrix is distinguished by a lipstick accord made from rose, while Ludeaux comprises a more subtle composition of peach.
Erewhon readies for Big Apple debut

The launch of former Los Angeles fixture Eggslut didn’t quite take off when it opened in New York in 2017. Yet, the question of whether New Yorkers will pay more than $20 for a smoothie is about to be answered with the impending East Coast debut of viral lifestyle grocer Erewhon. According to Curbed, plans for Kith Ivy, Kith CEO Ronnie Feig’s forthcoming private padel club, include space for an Erewhon alongside another F&B concept from the Cafe Mogador team. Reporting by Substack writer Emily Sundberg also yielded info from a pitch deck claiming the space would operate from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. With a $36,000 initiation fee and $7,000 in annual dues required for Feig’s West Village club, odds are his target audience won’t mind paying a little extra for a smoothie.
Giorgio Armani dies at 91

Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani died on September 4th at his home Milan. He was 91. Working until his final days, per The New York Times, the menswear maestro earned global acclaim for applying Neapolitan craftsmanship to his signature suits, softening their internal structures to accentuate the body wearing it. At the intersection of androgyny and luxury, the feminized style revamped the vernacular of workwear with a modern new uniform often rendered in crepe or cashmere. After launching his eponymous label alongside late-partner Sergio Galeotti in 1975, Armani skyrocketed to fame by the early 1980s as his fashions grew synonymous with the cultural zeitgeist. Memorable admirers include Martin Scorsese, Julia Roberts, the men of Miami Vice, and, of course, Richard Gere in American Gigolo. The Armani brand became an empire, introducing cosmetics, accessories, shoes, and even hospitality concepts.
