Hotel Hendricks, the newest addition to the Fortuna Realty Group portfolio, has opened in Manhattan’s Garment District. The 176-room property is conceived by Los Angeles-based designer Marcello Pozzi to convey contemporary luxury.
Concrete surfaces and exposed ceilings serve as the backdrop for a series of design signatures across the interior. Copper details abound alongside mahogany elements, live cherry blossoms, and animal prints. The open-air lobby evokes a resort-like sensibility with copper domes carved into the concrete awning of the entrance.
Common areas are designed with an organic flow as well as colorful, handblown Murano glass chandeliers that contrast darkly toned geometric light fixtures. Copper appears again in the form of more than 37,000 pennies that adorn bar areas in the lobby and rooftop. The industrial aesthetic of the neighborhood is reflected in guestrooms, which also capture the vibrancy of the Garment District with graphic animal print motifs. Feather mahogany panels line each accommodation beneath black and copper dome lighting.
Adjacent to the reception desk is Paloma restaurant, which accommodates up to 80 guests inside and an additional 20 diners on the sidewalk patio. A second outdoor space is home to 24 seats as well as fountains, lush greenery, twinkle lights, and a handpainted mural from Peruvian painter Julio Granados. Hendricks Rooftop bar spans the 26th floor, clad with a whimsical décor and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame views of Manhattan. Set against the backdrop of another mural from Granados, an outdoor rooftop deck is accessible via a small staircase.
