The InterContinental San Diego has debuted along the city’s scenic Bayfront, joining IHG’s two additional southern California properties in Los Angeles. The new urban retreat is anchored in a sense of place with a design from Torrance, California-based design firm Linda Snyder Associates.
Situated upon the historic grounds of Lane Field, formerly home to the San Diego Padres, the 19-story property comprises 400 guestrooms and 24 suites, all of which are clad with floor-to-ceiling windows.
Extensive daylighting has been incorporated into the 35,000 square feet of versatile indoor meeting and event space; an additional 60,000 square feet of outdoor venues are also featured. The hotel’s 12,000-square-foot Pacific ballroom accommodates up to 1,500 guests against a backdrop of the city framed by full-length windows. The hotel’s fourth floor is home to the rooftop pool, sundeck, and pool bar, as well as the 3,300-square-foot health and wellness center, which features a yoga terrace.
Later this fall, the property will roll out new F&B options including the first West Coast iteration of Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse. A Starbucks and 19th-floor bar will arrive early next year.
