The Pacific Beach Hotel in Waikiki is undergoing a $115 million overhaul, returning next fall as the Alohilani Resort at Waikiki Beach. Crafted by Rockwell Group, WATG, and Pacific Asia Design Group, the tranquil, oceanfront property will house 839 guestrooms and suites as well as a 280,000-gallon lobby oceanarium. The resort will also debut two new pools and two restaurants.
Guestrooms will honor Hawaiian culture with regionally inspired style and a modern beach house ambiance. Natural materials including wood, stone, and concrete as well as a tone-on-tone palette of white and beige will be accented with blue and green hues to create a light, airy environment. Details like lava stone mosaic accents, woven columns, and curated artwork will also pay homage to local culture and history.
A landscaped porte-cochère and expanded, open lobby will enhance the arrival experience in addition to new concierge desk, a lobby bar, retail outlets, and business and education centers. Custom furnishings from Rockwell Group will include a limestone reception desk, white slipcovered sofas, live-edge tables, and tropical-inspired light fixtures. Numerous pocket gardens will also highlight the island’s lush flora indoors.

A saltwater infinity pool overlooks the coast, offering refuge with a pool bar and tiered daybeds. Custom teak furniture and firepits will dress the deck along with driftwood sculptures, festoon lighting, and lanterns.
Two contemporary dining concepts will be introduced with the renovation, along with a lobby lounge and bar. Signature eatery Morimoto Asia will be located on the property’s second floor, while Momosan Waikiki will offer a more casual ambiance including a tropical beer garden.
