Aman is planning to launch Amanera in the Dominican Republic, scheduled to open some time in the fourth quarter of 2015.
Perched on a jungle clifftop overlooking Playa Grande beach, Amanera will become the first golf-integrated Aman property.
“The launch of Amanera is a clear illustration of brand progression and represents a number of firsts for Aman; not only is this the first fully-integrated golf resort, but it is one that unusually presents ocean vistas from every hole,” says Vladislav Doronin, chairman of the board for Aman.
Guests will choose from 25 casitas—designed by John Heah of the London-based Heah&Co—with organic designs realized with natural materials, such as locally obtained stone, indigenous handmade Aguayo tiles, and Dominican decorative elements. Flat biodiverse roofs will also feature garden and living spaces. Every casita’s entry will lead guests through a private garden, and 13 casitas will include their own private swimming pool.
The two-bedroom Bay View Casa will offer a 65-foot infinity swimming pool on an extensive clifftop terrace with overhanging eaves for shade, while the central living area will be flanked by the ocean and pool on one side and a private garden on the other.
Casa Grande will appear to float above a three-tiered water feature. A reception area, library, and cigar bar will all branch off the building’s central open-air bar and lounge, which will also connect to Amanera’s signature restaurant. A separate private dining pavilion will be available for private events.
In addition, the site will include the 370-acre, 10-hole Playa Grande Golf Course, designed by American architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. and renovated by his son, Rees Jones. Other amenities include a pro shop, fitness center, tennis courts, and an Aman Spa with single and double treatment rooms.
