Amara Cay Resort has officially reopened to the public following its multimillion-dollar renovation.
Miami-based Trust Hospitality manages the boutique resort, which is located in Islamorada, Florida. Renovations include the redesign of its restaurant, 110 guestrooms, public spaces, meeting rooms, landscaping, and retail space.
Extended balconies were added to guestrooms and suites, designed to invoke the feeling of a seaside cottage. Simple design and room furnishings combine with incorporated natural elements such as wood, rattan, and dark tile.
LED lighting, improved thermostats, upgraded sinks and showers, and impact-resistant glass were added in line with the resort’s preference toward sustainability.
The lobby lounge features décor inspired by the location. Rustic textures, reclaimed wood, and papasan chairs mimic local culture and aesthetic. A new in-house gift shop was added, while new meeting and event space the Glass Bowl meeting room accommodates 60 guests.
In addition to the hotel’s poolside offering, Sparrows Rum Bar, guests can now get a drink at the Oltremare Bar, which adjoins the newly opened Oltremare Ristorante. The eatery seats up to 60 and serves coastal Italian cuisine from a menu designed by chef Darío Olivera.
